Cereal, Conference, Soccer, and More!

So, I have decided that I am going to keep up with this blogging thing...even if this means typing with one hand while feeding Charlie with the other. Between reading my new Time issue and my new book from the library (The Best Advice I Ever Got), blogging has been on the back burner.

Charlie started eating rice cereal from a spoon last week! He took it like a champ!
Shane and I went out Saturday night to our usual watering hole. The new bartender (24 year old Ashley) did not know how to make the  Bombay Saphire extra dirty martini with extra olives that I had been craving all week. This was our first sign we should have left. The second sign was when our bartender and all of her friends thought we were serious when Shane requested Miley Cirus It's a Party in the USA. Our laughter at least made them leave our side of the bar. After spending 80 bucks just to feel old and sad that OUR bar is now one step above Fred's in Tigerland we went home.

Tuesday, Jake's teacher and I had a conference which went awesome! Mrs. Burk said Jake is very artistic and she is excited to see what avenues he will take in the future. He needs to work on number recognition 7-10 and eventually up to 20. Besides that she said that he gets distracted by his sociable and artistic nature. LOVE IT!!

Last night was Jake's last soccer game of the season! It was so great. They won and all the kids got a trophy. Coach Edwin ordered pizza and brought cupcakes. Jake and his grandmother also brought cupcakes that Jake had helped decorate. I forgot my camera so another parent will be emailing the pictures of the party. Can't wait to put them up!

Blog or Not

So, I spent most of my day thinking about what to blog about. I might be a little obsessed. It did, however, prompt me to take new pictures of Genevieve. My day, like most when we don't have Jake, was pretty eventless. I am swearing off Facebook for a while. I find it to be a breeding ground for drama. Jake is feeling better. Hopefully he will be able to play soccer Saturday. Charlie is still awake. He must be growing, because he took a bottle during the night (something he hasn't done in over a month). Shane brought home a six-pack of Bud (yes, we are poor) and we rated people on Hot or Not before dinner. Amazing how fun judging others can be! Oh yeah, I need a new phone. My battery keeps dying during gossip gab with Jen. Ugh.

Monsters in the Dark

Genevieve and Shane have started a Halloween ritual! Every evening when he gets home from work, they go upstairs to turn on the Halloween decorations. See above picture. "Monsters in the dark!" is Genevieve's new phrase. She even puts her hands up by her face and changes her voice to say it! I have no clue where she got this from. It is quite hysterical. Besides sounding like a monster, she has also started counting to three in Chinese! Thanks Kai-Lan! Take THAT International School. That's right...My child can count in Chinese and I didn't have to pay a dime. And they say TV is "bad" for kids.

The First Day of the Rest of Our Lives

Today is Tuesday, October 6, 2009. I decided to start a blog to document the lives of my family. I want to be able to remember Charlie's first word, Genevieve's first day of school, Jake's first girlfriend. I already write EVERYTHING down. I'm an avid list maker, planner, journaler. Now, I can have OUR LIVES all in one spot! So, welcome friends and family to the blogspot of Ashlea, Shane, Jake, Genevieve, and Charlie! Oh yeah...and our pets: Josephine, Bruiser and Cuervo.
